I wrote the poem "Traffic Song" in 1989 and I have been waiting for an opportunity to publish it since then.

I have made a new sculpture.

16 August 2000 Paul's Tower is a new work and represents my most recent foray into public sculpture. I am now searching for the site which is most appropriate to it.

These notes were written for the gallery guides at the NSW Art Gallery about my entry for 2001 Archibald.

Coming Down the Creek In Good Time is about what I imagine it was like before. It is like this still and It will be like this in the future.

This exhibition of paintings represents the work that I have made over the last 18 months.

The thing about sculpture and the thing about what I mostly use is that most of the material of the work is empty space and light.

I propose to identify not only how Sculpture by the Sea advances the development of those core values but also articulate a personal response.

The life of a sculpture goes through a number of changes on the way to execution.

A sculpture has to make a proposition. It has to speak on behalf of the time in which it is made.

By now we have established that sculpture can be anything and everything. Our hearts and minds are open to all the opportunities that sculpture offers.

Most of you here tonight will recognize me as Richard Goodwin. If I am not entirely myself, or if I look out of sorts, that's because today is the day, tonight is the night, that everything changes for good.

What we need to get back to, which has been left silent and powerless for too long is... silence, that most abused, more often mute than sensible, entity, make fly again, and let it echo there and resonate, and not let it be interrupted.

Words, deeds and gestures serve to touch and in touching and being touched, we know we are alive.

Once upon a time, is an introductory phrase employed to announce the beginning of a story. With it comes an anticipation of becoming spellbound, transfixed by what will follow.
